Twisted Cedar (Oct 2012)

Cedars, hemlocks and all manner of evergreens grow like crazy in northern Michigan. Outside our cottage is a handsome specimen of an aromatic cedar shrub.  I discovered after some careful pruning that the trunk of this low lying shrub had long ago been severely damaged. I found the cedar a fascinating subject: Not only did it overcome the adversity of injury, but it healed itself, and recovered with such aplomb as to present us with this beautiful, twisted form.

I praise the universe for what it creates.
