My third in the poppy series resulted from an experiment with left over palette oils. I discovered this wonderful mixture of cadmium yellow and scarlet red that was just right to portray the poppies’ blooms. I had way too much paint left when I finished Poppies II so I used a palette knife and smeared the canvas to form the poppy blossom. Below are the study and final versions of Solo Poppy.
