Red Umbrella (Jan 2012)

This painting was inspired by the very tall Cottonwood trees growing outside Santa Fe all along the Rio Grande. I saw these trees in October 2011 and vowed to paint them someday. With plentiful water from the river, the Cottonwoods grow extremely tall and in autumn are adorned with the golden colors that I tried to capture in the painting. See my first, and only, painting in acrylics below.
