One of the simplest figures I can conjure up allows one’s imagination to soar. Three Piece Fish is a work made of two pieces of stainless steel and one brass disc. I silver soldered these together and mounted the form on a dyed stainless steel plate that is attached to a basswood base.
The form I wish to examine in the next four works in the fish sculpture series is elementally embodied in Three Piece Fish. This form is the departure point from which each succeeding sculpture in the four work sub-series is derived . . . and, just as in nature’s evolution, this sculptural form’s evolution yields increasingly complex organisms.
