Sunflowers (April 2013)

The many sunflower paintings of van Gogh are some of my favorite works by one of my favorite artists.

My humble attempt to paint these beautiful flowers in oil can be seen in the gallery of progressive images of the work below. First is the monochromatic imprimatura that I painted first in order capture the light values. Two interim steps are pictured and the final framed work.
